Demo app doesn't work

Postby prakash on Fri Mar 12, 2010 6:33 am

Hi,

After downloading I tried running one of the template app "Recipes". Build is fine. DB has records. PHPadmin works fine. But app never shows up. Safari tries loading for long time and then gives up.

Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://acme:8888/” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.

What do you think I am doing wrong?

I am having the same issue. I can go to localhost:8888 and see the apache server. I can go to the SQL server and see the acme table. But I can not get the app to run. I was doing the overview of model baker example. Are there any simple things we can do to debug what is wrong?

I was able to fix my issue. Hope this helps yours.

1. When you build change the build directory to /Applications/MAMP/htdocs (IGNORE THE DEMO WHICH SAYS TO USE SITES. You can make sites work but it requires stuff not shown in demo)
2. Call the location with "http://localhost:8888" OR even better go to the MAMP and tell it to use common ports. Then you can just use "http://localhost/"

Good Luck.
